poupy is an expense tracking application operated from Portugal. By using it, you agree to these terms. If you do not, do not use the service โ and if you already have an account, you can stop at any time and ask us to delete it.
poupy is for adults: you must be 18 or older to have an account, and creating one is you saying that you are. We do not ask for a date of birth and we do not check. What exists is the sentence shown on the way in and the version of these terms recorded against the account when it was made.
The reason is the money rather than caution. A subscription is a contract, and under Portuguese law somebody under 18 cannot be held to one. If we find that an account belongs to a minor we close it, and a paid period still running is refunded the way Termination describes.
poupy is in early access. Features may change, break, or be removed. We provide the service as it is, with no guarantee of availability or of the accuracy of anything it calculates. Keep your own records of anything that matters to you.
Category suggestions, the 50/30/20 split, and any future IRS or e-Fatura estimates are exactly that โ estimates, produced automatically. They are not financial, tax, or legal advice. For anything that reaches a tax return, consult a qualified professional.
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for what is done with your account. Do not share it, and do not use the service for anything unlawful. The demo account is shared with everybody who opens it and is wiped nightly: nothing entered there is private or kept.
Most of poupy is free. Some parts cost money because they cost us money to run โ a receipt read by an AI model, the daily exchange rates behind wallets in more than one currency. What the free plan includes is shown on the Subscription page; today it is one receipt read by a model per day, one shortcut, and one currency.
The price of a paid plan is the one shown at checkout before you pay, in euros, including any applicable VAT. We may change prices; a change never applies to a period already paid for.
Payments are taken by Mollie, a licensed payment provider. Card and bank details are entered on their page and never reach us; we keep the amount, the date, the status, and the identifier Mollie gives the payment.
A subscription does not renew on its own. Paying for a period buys that period and no more: it ends when it ends, and nothing is taken again unless you switch on Renew automatically in Settings โ Subscription. The switch starts off, and switching it off again takes effect at once.
With it on, the card you paid with is charged when the period runs out, and each renewal extends the period from where the last one ended rather than from the day the money arrives, so a late payment never costs you days.
If a renewal fails, your access continues to the end of the period you already paid for and we tell you what happened. Nothing is switched off in the middle of a paid month because a card expired.
Switching off Renew automatically is all it takes, and you can do it at any time in Settings โ Subscription. Where a renewal is already switched on there is also a Cancel button, which does the same thing in one press. Either way you keep everything the plan includes until the end of the period you paid for, and the account then continues on the free plan. Your data is not deleted when a subscription ends.
If you are a consumer in the European Union you have fourteen days to change your mind about a purchase, and a subscription to a service is not something that right can be signed away for. So we do not ask you to sign it away.
Within fourteen days of a payment you get all of it back, not a part worked out from the days you used. Settings โ Subscription has a Refund button next to every payment still inside its fourteen days; pressing it sends the money back through the same route it came and ends the subscription there and then.
After fourteen days the button is gone, but the conversation is not: write to hey.poupy@gmail.com and we will look at it anyway.
We sometimes give one person a discount or a price of their own. Such a price belongs to that account, is not transferable, and can be withdrawn for future periods with notice โ never for a period already paid for.
When you send a receipt, its contents are read automatically. For a shop whose layout we have not seen before, that means sending the document to an AI provider outside poupy; what this involves is set out in the Privacy Policy. The reading is automatic and can be wrong, and the numbers it produces are yours to check and correct.
If you join or create a group, its other members can see the expenses you enter while you are in it. Receipts, wallets and shortcuts stay yours alone. Leaving a group stops the sharing from that point; it does not retract what was already visible.
You can stop using poupy whenever you like. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or abuses the service โ and where we do that to an account with a paid period left, we refund the unused part, unless the abuse is what caused the cost.
This page changes as poupy does, and the date at the top is the date of the last change. For anything that affects what you pay or what we do with your data, we will tell you before it takes effect rather than leave you to notice.
These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. If you are a consumer, that does not take away the protection of the mandatory rules where you live. Disputes go to the courts of Lisbon; as a consumer you may also use the EU online dispute resolution platform or a Portuguese consumer arbitration centre.
